Bin Dinar’s narration about the dream that was the cause of his repentance came in the Book of Tawabeen by Ibn Qudamah, in mentioning the reason for the repentance of a group of the ummah, may God have mercy on them, number 77 Malik bin Dinar’s repentance / 124, 125, 126, and the text was as he saw it in his sleep:
It was as if the Resurrection had risen and blew the images, and the graves were scattered, and the creatures were crammed, while I was with them, and I heard a feeling from behind me, so I turned, and if I was a dragon, the greatest of what would be a blue lion had opened its mouth quickly towards me.
So I passed between his hands, running away, terrified, so I passed on my way with a pure-dressed sheikh who smelled good. Hire me from this dragon, may God reward you, so the sheikh cried and said to me: I am weak and this is stronger than me, and what I am capable of, but pass and faster, so may God grant you what saves you from it.
I ran away on my face, so I climbed in honor of the honor of the Resurrection, so I looked over the layers of fire, and I looked at its horror and almost fell in it from the fear of the dragon. He shouted to me, ‘Go back, I am not one of its people,’ so I was assured of what he said and I went back.
And the dragon returned in my request, so I came to the sheikh, and I said: O Sheikh, I asked you to drag me from this dragon, but you did not, so the sheikh cried and said: I am weak, but walk to this mountain, because there is a deposit of Muslims in it, and if you have a deposit in it, then you will be victorious.
He said: Then I looked at a mountain round of silver, with openwork windows, and a curtain hanging on each peach, and a niche of red gold shutters, detailed with the seams, accompanied by a shield on each shutter.
When I looked at the mountain and ran to it, running away, and the dragon behind me, even when I approached it, some angels shouted: Raise the curtain, open the shutters, and look over! Perhaps this miserable person has a trust in you that he draws from his enemy, and if the cover was raised and the shutters were opened, children with faces like moons and the dragon were near me and I was confused in my command.

Then she sat me and sat on my lap and struck her right hand to my beard and said: Father, “Has it not come for those who have believed that their hearts be humbled by the remembrance of God.” [الحديد: 16] I cried and said: Oh, Bunia, and you know the Qur’an? She said, “Father, we know it from you.”
I said: So tell me about the dragon who wanted to destroy me. She said: That is your bad deed, his strength, and he wanted to drown you in the fire of Hell.
I said: Oh build, and what do you do on this mountain? She said: We, the children of the Muslims, have stayed in it until the Hour begins, we wait for you to come before us, and we will intercede for you. Malik said: I took notice of panic and became intoxicating and became intoxicating and broke the vessels and repented to God – the Almighty – and this was the reason for my repentance.

However, there are responses to these criticisms that have been mentioned by other scholars, including:
- When this story is narrated, it must be a lesson, and it is attributed to its owner exclusively, towards our saying: Malik bin Dinar was telling about the reason for his repentance, or we mention the source in which it was mentioned from among the famous scholars who have known and proven true knowledge and denied heresy, towards our saying: It came In the book Tawabeen by Ibn Qudama.
- This story was mentioned by Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi as I mentioned in the Book of al-Tawabeen, and it was also mentioned by Ibn al-Jazri in the book (Al-Zahr Al-Fatih in Remembrance of Those Who Relieve Sins and Obstacles), as mentioned by other scholars such as Al-Ajlouni and Ibn Al-Jawzi.
- Concerning that he did not mention in his translation that he married, and he did not want that he had any children or daughters; Because he himself said he bought a slave girl, and that the baby died at the age of two.
- As for those who lie about the story because it contains his lack of integrity at the beginning of his life, and he knew about him piety, asceticism and righteousness, this does not deny that, so how many scholars who were corrupt and disobedient then God has repented to him, but there are scholars who were a Jew or Christian then converted to Islam And it is true and proven to take knowledge of it.
- It is common and well-known among scholars that such stories are mentioned by religious scholars for sermon, and there is nothing wrong with that, and God knows best.
